Green Industrial Pathways in the Developing World

Part of the Low Carbon Growth project

Many countries are turning to green stimulus as they rebuild their economies in the wake of economic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Preliminary analyses of these stimulus packages suggest that governments have prioritized low carbon growth to varying degrees. With any developing countries reliant on remittances and commodity exports hit particularly hard by the global pandemic, generating jobs, shoring up safety nets, and reinvigorating economies will be pressing priorities for governments. We will build on the Climate Policy Lab’s approach to research that is empirically-grounded, comparative, and focused on implementation to study clean tech industrial pathways of South Africa, Ethiopia, China and India.
