Policy Gap Analysis

Part of the Climate Policy Performance project

We work with a wide range of governments, ranging from large emitters such as the United States, China, and India, to smaller countries that serve as regional role models to identify the range of new policies that could supplement existing efforts to achieve deep decarbonization in the economy. Our comparative analysis framework creates the tools to weigh the effectiveness of national strategies in light of the successes and failures of the wide range of policy options that have been used under similar political and economic conditions.

Our inquiry begins with evaluation of the decarbonization strategies of the following countries:

  • China

  • India

  • Vietnam

  • Ethiopia

  • Indonesia

  • Mexico

  • Brazil

  • Colombia

  • South Africa
